I'm sorry to hear that.
I reposted a lot of my artwork because I was under the impression that this was desired to rebuild the lost threads and not leave all the work to the admins. That was my understanding. Besides, I had been asked by several users to repost them.

Deleting the posts after 3 months I would not find so good, I post only my own work, and I do not distribute them in several places. In fact, the GIMP forum is the only place I show my drawings. If they are deleted after 3 months, someone who is interested in them cannot find them anymore.

But it's OK. I understand that this is not an artist archive but a discussion forum. And of course I will abide by the rules, whatever they will be. I will now stop posting old work and only sporadically post newer work that has not been published yet.

Maybe voluntary donations like in the Cruxforum could be a solution, by seeing how many donations have been received and are still needed to keep the forum running. This would also make the question of a "reasonable" amount easier.

Please note that deleting posts after 3 months was NEVER considered by the site administrator (as far as I know) , this idea was proposed by other members and was met with strong opposition (including yours) so far.

Many other members have contributed and helped to ressurect this forum from scratch after the fatal crash where all the previous material was lost by restarting the old threads, etc... I don't think this can be done once again since trust is in danger of being lost for good.

Personally I would consider the following statement (from the admin) much more alarming:

We'll be upgrading our plan and hopefully we will not have to move the sites like we had to do before. We're going over with tech support to make sure that things will remain the same and the upgrade will be a smooth step and not fraught with problems resulting in hard work.

We'll be doing that work beginning tomorrow and it should be done by the end of the week. Unless...

Another host/server migration ? PLEASE NO ! !

I've read it carefully and it sounds much more reassuring indeed.

But still going from 98% to 66% space use is not yet a definitive victory.

In hope of more GOOD news very soon...

Thank you for your hard work.

A few days ago we heard here that the space on the server is slowly running out.
Then why does Electriccity have to post everything here several times as advertising.
That's why we have the Pruducers Corner!

There are some interesting developments with the 'out of space' issue.

I mentioned to Jac what I was seeing when I checked the statistics in the hosting server. I keep tabs of what goes on without truly knowing what all those numbers mean. Some are pretty obvious, some are not.

Jac cleared it for me without being condescending. What I thought was a disk space problem, it was not. It was the physical memory usage. It means that there's limit in the capacity of the hosting plan to handle the traffic. Sometimes we have heavy traffic and the physical memory usage reaches a high percentage, like 89% or 95% which I thought was the end of the world as we know it. But no. It means that the sites, all of them, might slow down bit. That's all. It happens to all of the websites in the internet. A page might not load at all or a message might appear instead, some kind of error. But it's fine.

Which doesn't mean that we have limitless storage capacity. We do have a limit. I know that something is going on because when I last checked the statistics the PMU was down to 45% and it's been going up and down all this time.

Jac is working out an upgrade to the plan without affecting our current situation, no moving the sites or anything like that, just an improvement on everything. We're noticing a growth in traffic and we must prepare for more of that.

As far as posting the same post in different threads, as long as the attachments are not duplicated, then it's fine. It's better to have links to pictures, in any case, and the number of attachments per posts as well as the size of them will remain the same for the time being.

I too have noticed a great deal of duplicate images and posts. Perhaps a manual of guidelines for both contributors and posters would help. There may be some who do not know how best to use the forum.

I don’t mean to be rude but that seems to be their MO so to speak. They rarely seem to interact with the forum unless it’s to post the same ads for their content in several threads, and sometimes even multiple times in the same thread?

I like some of their stuff but I find that behavior rather annoying. They also tend to spam my inbox on other sites like Motherless where I am a member. It really puts me off from buying their stuff which I’m sure is the exact opposite of their intention.

Anyone else getting "connection is not private" and "site security certificate expired 2 days ago" errors? I can still read and post simple replies after 'proceeding unsafely', but I can't post any pics (I get 'http error'.

Yes, I had a similar problem yesterday: Firefox blocked the access to the whole (ralphus.net) website with a warning message saying the site has security issues (security certificate expired). I had to go over (which I usually don't) and bypass the block by clicking on "continue to the site" (or something similar ?) then it worked as before, including image postings.
But still, there's obviously something wrong on your side which must be fixed. (FYI,expiration date was may 31th)
