As has been said on this forum many times, it isn’t merciless peril unless the GIMP’s bondage is torturous in and of itself. One of my favorite restraints is the combination neck restraint and arm spreader, preferably iron or steel - though heavy wood will do the trick also. It puts the chick in a spread-eagle position and forces her chest out. Having the neck also constrained makes things much more interesting. If you try one on, you’ll know what I mean by that. You can see it in her eyes as the neck gets clamped - things just get really scary.
To make things even better, hoisting her up by the device gets really fun, particularly if the restraints are sharp-edged metal. You’ll see her start to panic as she tries to take pressure off her neck, and the wrists are cut into by the edges… super-satisfying for the captor. One can (and should) add a leg-spreader at this point, of course.
She also looks terrific on her knees with her arms spread out and her neck restrained. A blow job then becomes more painful, the clanking sounds are fun, and the device becomes a nice grasping mechanism for the captor to pull her back and forth.

In addition to all that it allows the subject to flail her hands in desperation but without her being able to actually accomplish anything, which is to me at least, and additional stimulation. There is a video from PST I think where the subject is tied face down on a couch (with her upper body at the edge and upright) but her wrist restraints are a foot or so long... she can move her arms but can't reach anything to prevent her from being strangled or violated... very sexy.
