The thing is I question just how many males that read those stories and looked at the artwork actually wanted that intended 'outcome', or how many that were, like us here on the gimp, disappointed when Macho Joe saved her and spoiled all the fun. I think the percentages might surprise us.
Well, I was never in favor of the cavalry arriving in the nick of time!

Here's one of the few covers that doesn't have a hint of an imminent rescue! Man's Epic 1964-08. This is a Damsel in REAL Distress!

And another cover where the Damsel is realizing how serious her Distress really is! From the looks on the faces of the two Germans, they plan on toasting more than just the soles of her feet!

Very nicely done Sir, I love them. I can only imagine the effect your version would have had on my 17 year old self back then. It definitely would have been a 'lock the bedroom door' situation. :D

Stupid nazis! You don't strangle a female before you torture her. 8-)

Nice work Sir, and thanks for sharing.
Very true, wulf. But we can't expect too much from our fantasy villains, after all!
Yeah you're right, I suppose. Thanks to talented guys like you, JD, and others around here, their mistakes can be corrected.

Actually I never thought of riding into the sunset and living happily ever after with the GIMP. My thoughts always revolved around the stripping, the sweating, and prolonging the stay in the torture chamber as much as possible. I would always curse and wish death on the idiot or idiots that chivalrously arrived to rescue the GIMP at the most inopportune moment, like when the hot iron was about to strike or the pincers were about to rip some flesh. Not to mention, before the trickle of acid left the bottle in the villain's hand. . .

Yes indeed. I found those peril situations being foiled 'the good guys' to be seriously disappointing. :(

Thanks, Bastinado. I got really lucky with trying to put an expression of real alarm on the heroine's face. I've mentioned before that trying to change expressions on AI is a real hit-and-miss proposition!

Same here. In my fantasies, I imagined that the rescuers never managed to arrive until it was much too late. As a big fan of Old West movies, I've seen the cavalry arrive just in the nick of time way too often. That's not the way it usually worked out . . .
