In the morning a Baron still in hungover assists at the final preparations. Ciri has been introduced in the demeritium cage, a special device designed for safe transportation of the convicted practicians of magic in the Northern Kingdoms. Manacles attached with short chains to each limb, a short trestle with a rounded cylinder of the same material enters deep into the womb of the prisoner while a neck restrain doubled with a gagging metal ball ensure that no spell can be casted while in transit.

After the final screws tightening is complete, the cargo will be loaded on the waiting cart.

The lucky passers-by on the road from Novigrad to Tretogor that day would be regaled with the view of a naked young woman in a tight cage mounted on a cart driven by fast horses. Despite their shouts inquiring the sins of the prisoner, they would get nothing from the taciturn cart driver. Only some muffled sounds were coming from the cage but that was hardly an answer for the curious masses.

What happens next?

And finally, the end of a serie that by my own admission took way too long to complete.

Deep in the bowels of the royal palace, in a dark place illuminated only occasionally by the visitors' torches lies Radovid most private collection. A repository of captured sorceresses, bonded in demeritium, vitals magically suspended, time frozen. Unable to move, unable to talk, everyone who ever slighted Radovid is dangling here in her constricting cage.

Every now and then, the mad king is taking long strolls to his favorite gallery, talking to the unresponsive audience. Sometimes boasting about his latest military victories, sometimes complaining about scheming courtesans but the reaction is always the same. Dead quietness, except for the occasional squeaks of the metal cages moved back and forth by his passing.

A new development is troubling Radovid today. A witcher of some fame has crossed Pontar River a fortnight ago, in Oxenfurt, asking assiduously about some missing sorceresses. He might be trouble, Radovid thought. Indeed.

Bench of Penitence. The resting place for the wicked. Specially designed to keep the body in a stressful position while exposing it to public humiliation.

It was not the baron who build it. The bench was there for ages, mindfully repaired, a reminder to all the villagers in Crow's Perch of the absolute power of their overlord.

There's already someone on the bench this morning, Helga, a tavern wench who was caught adding water to the wine and was sent to the bench for a full day, dawn to dusk.

Leaving the underground at first Ciri was pleased by the warmth of the hair, the nascent sunt and the clean air. Seeing Helga on the bench and the chains, her mood soured.

Quickly Ciri was chained in place next to her. The baron is expected to visit later, if there's news about her fate. Until then, nothing to do but brave the sun.

Later in the day, Bloody Baron dropped by bearing news.

"Both my riders are back and they bring interesting news. A good news and a bad news" he said. "The good news is that both parts are interested. Emhyr is having a reward for a girl of your description, to be returned unmolested and well-treated. Radovid is posting a reward for any sorcerous woman in the land to be caged in demeritium and sent his way. Word is he hates magic practitioneers with passion. Sorceresses dissapear in his castle's catacombs never to be seen again".

The baron took a dramatic pause. "Now, the bad news for you is Radovid is offering almost double. Crow's Perch is closer to Redania than Nilfgaard and the good emperor never paid much attention to local businesses like ours. Florins are as good as orens after all".

"Without further ado my sweet, you'll go to Tretogor. Get ready to travel".

After one hour of agony, Bloody Baron ordered her down and moved to the sewers. The ingested water is about to be released and he knows that's messy and smelly.

"Take her down, boys. If she knew anything by now she would have told it. We are wasting our time here"
