Breaking News at THE GIMP FORUM
A couple of things.
One,
I'll eliminate the sub forum Breaking News and I'll transfer everything that is there to this thread. I don't think we need a whole sub forum to communicate news
Two
Some of our members might be experiencing some annoying issues.
Like the site going off and/or not loading at times. Not all the time, I wouldn't be here typing this if it was like permanent. It goes on and off.
Ok. We are working on it. Something happened, we don't know what, that is causing the problems. We first thought it was the SSL certificate, but it doesn't appear to be the issue. It could be an IP related problem or a configuration problem which might have been caused by some external problem.
I won't be approving or deleting any new registrations for the time being. I can't really work on them with this ongoing problem, and, as a matter of fact, it is when I'm working on the new registrations that the problem jumps on me.
I just posted in the Red Feline News thread and everything was fine.
If anyone here had issues like that, just comment on it telling me of your approximate locations, like Europe, Africa, and so on. I need that info to communicate to our tech support.

Re: Breaking News at THE GIMP FORUM
I'm in the US central time zone. When it quit on me (4 or 5 times during this past week) it was always after I had opened 10 or 12 threads, then I would open a thread, and go to click back when I would get a 'access denied' (or similar wording) on a white page. Once or twice it let me back to the main page once then nothing but the white page and message.
Today is the first time I've tried it since thursday. So far it's working, but I've already opened several pages, so I don't if it will happen or not today.

Re: Breaking News at THE GIMP FORUM
I'm 6 hours drive from New York city. My browser said "check address" 10 minutes later everything is fine. Happened 5 or 6 times.
Re: Breaking News at THE GIMP FORUM
Occasional, rare I'd say. I wouldn't have mentioned it had you not asked.

Re: Breaking News at THE GIMP FORUM
I'm in Belgium and I didn't experience such an on/off behaviour so far.
However, in my case it happens quite often that the background is just black without any images.
Most of the time the images reappear after visiting a few threads.

I am in the western United States. For approximately a week, I have had the site just freeze up after reading several threads. Safari browser then would say can not connect with the server. If I came back in say 5 to 20 minutes, the site would load again.
Re: Breaking News at THE GIMP FORUM
I'm in the Balkans, and the Forum is working fine here. Sometimes the links or the user avatars goes crazy for a second or two (they flicker or failed to load).
I mostly use Yandex or Mozilla browser.

Re: Breaking News at THE GIMP FORUM
I'm from Belgium (Europe) and a couple of days ago had some random issues, mostly Security Certificate (SSL) errors and (sometimes) TLS errors blocking access to the site. The problem came back a few times then went away and everything seems OK so far. And yes, with some browsers the background border pictures doesn't appear or take some time to, but this is really a minor issue. Most of the time (90%) your website is much faster than many others and is compatible with old unsupported browsers (I.E), please don't change that. Pictures upload is ultra fast too.

I forgot to add that I use google chrome with win 11. It has worked fine so far today, and also yesterday.wulf wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 6:42 pm I'm in the US central time zone.
