Edukator, I don't think you're going to find those bed-of-nails plates readily available. They appear to have been custom made and probably involved a large amount of labor. I recall some griping about this in the RE/search Modern Primitives volume. If I was serious about making the wooden-peg version I'd probably look to use a CNC mill to fabricate it from a solid block of wood. I think these were made by fabbing each peg on a lathe, then screwing each of them to the baseboard individually.

They go by various names... nail plates, joint plates, truss plates, and come in different sizes.

This one is 4" x 8" and 6 or 8 of them tacked down (points up, of course) to a chair would make a very nice seat for her to enjoy while she waits for your return.

You allways have plenty of nice creative ideas wulf. But this could be perfected the following way: leave a little space between each plate and wire them alternatively to two (bipolar) electrical wires to be connected to a zapper. The zapper could be triggered by a motion sensor, thus each time she moves she'll receive an additional electrical shock in her butt.
THAT would be a nice seat !

Oh yes, and that would double as a training device as well. Good idea.

Thank you for your reply. I was kind of expecting this since my searches didn't returned anything similar (but a few Fakir nailed plates)
PD (from Insex, source of the posted pics) had a well-equiped workshop at his disposal where almost any strange device born in his twisted mind could be made.

I think by boltting a number of these small devices (called speaker decoupling spikes) on a (perforated) metal plate I could achieve the same (or worse) results:

And BTW these speaker decoupling spikes are now available cheap (from Asia) and could have many interesting applications other than audiophile Hi-Fi. They are available in many styles, shapes, sizes and colors.

These are similar and would work as well. Add-on type metal studs for decorating clothing, and leather work, dog collars, etc.. Readily available from most big box retailers, and quite cheap. I bought 100 for $13 including shipping.

One handed sliding trigger clamps. Very effective in some situations. Available in many sizes.

The classic electrical nylon cable ties. Cheap and available in many configurations of length, width and color.
The automatic tie gun tool is recommended for a better and faster work.
And also: a roll of strong rubber wire. (many possible uses)
