A blindfold adds so much to this picture. I can see her being led into the Showroom for other masters to observe her, and as she enters she whispers "Please don't let them hurt me."

It prevents the subject from knowing what's coming next, adds to their disorientation and fear, and also-if in a "Captured Spy" or POW situation, prevents the subject from ID'ing any of the interrogators later on. It should be pointed out that in 1991, the first female POW in Desert Storm (there were two) was always blindfolded when being interrogated.

If the subject is being punished for a violation of prison rules (Not paying respect to guards/officers, communicating between cells, etc., whether real or imagined), a blindfold can add to whatever punishment-such as leg irons and hands bound/cuffed behind the back (this was a favorite of the North Vietnamese).

Perfect description and arguments. It's a well know fact that in real interrogation situations the interrogated victim is nearly allways blindfolded for all the reasons you mentioned above. Also, the interrogated (or kidnapped) subject is fully aware of the fact that she should never try to remove her blindfold because this would have the inevitable consequence of putting her life at risk once the tormenters/kidnapper feels revealed. In this sense being blindfolded can sometimes be a reassuring element for a subject in this state of distress.
Of course, disorientation, fear, anxiety and vulnerability of the victim are other sought-after elements in this kind of situations and could help to break the subject.

The unclassified version of what happened in 1991 is that the first female POW was kept nude during interrogations while in Baghdad, tied to a chair, and always blindfolded or hooded, along with being a victim of what the Army calls "Indecent Assault." Apart from that, what else is, however, classified. I know people who've been through aircrew survival training (SERE) and apart from that little bit of info, and a remark about "Jessica Lynch's book only tells half the story", that's it. Everything else about what happened to those POWs is classified.
