Classic Judicial Whipping. The girl is stripped only to her waist and then tied to a whipping post. The lashes are applied to her bare back only.

A whipping means punishment. Formal and painful punishment. For me then, an actual whipping has to be on the woman’s bare back. Usually standing and bound to the whipping post or cross, just like in the movies.
